Pagebound privacy policy
Effective October 6, 2026 · Extension version 0.4.0
Purpose and publisher
Pagebound creates locally stored reading editions from websites you select and lets you customize them, download PDF or EPUB files, and print through Chrome’s print dialog. Publisher: Pagebound. Privacy questions: anhldbk@gmail.com.
Information processed on your device
When you review or collect a website, Pagebound processes its URL, page titles, text, links, and supported images, including any personal information present in the selected content. It stores collected chapters, source URLs, images, crawl progress, conversion notes, book designs, and artwork you upload in this Chrome profile’s IndexedDB. Temporary capture-tab ownership is kept in browser-session storage.
Pagebound does not send your books, collected content, designs, or uploaded artwork to the publisher. It includes no telemetry, advertising, analytics, account system, or cloud sync. It does not scan your general browsing history or capture tabs you already have open.
Website requests and signed-in sessions
Pagebound requests robots.txt, selected pages, and image assets from websites you authorize. Those websites receive ordinary network information, including your IP address and requested URLs, under their own privacy policies. Static collection omits cookies and credentials.
If you explicitly enable JavaScript loading or interactive diagram preservation, Pagebound opens its own background tabs. Websites run scripts normally, can contact their own third-party services, and may use your signed-in Chrome session. Content visible in that session can become part of your local book. Pagebound does not directly read or store browser cookie values or passwords. It does not bypass login, paywalls, or CAPTCHA.
Chrome permissions
- activeTab: reads the current tab URL when you invoke the toolbar action.
- scripting: extracts rendered content from Pagebound-owned capture tabs when rendered collection is enabled.
- storage: tracks temporary capture tabs so they can be cleaned up after interruptions.
- debugger: takes bounded diagram screenshots when you enable diagram preservation, and renders saved content offline for PDF download. Both use Pagebound-owned tabs. Chrome requires this permission at installation and may display a notification during these operations. Pagebound does not attach to your existing tabs.
- Optional HTTP/S website access: requested for specific origins you choose to collect, and separately for image origins. Installation does not grant access to all websites. You can review and revoke grants in Pagebound’s Site access panel or Chrome’s extension settings.
Retention, deletion, and export
Books remain locally until you delete them or clear extension storage. Deleting a book removes its owned chapters, images, and designs; independently copied designs in other books remain. Uninstalling the extension removes its local library. Pagebound does not add its own encryption; device and browser protection determine local access.
PDF and EPUB files you save are stored where you choose and remain after deleting a book or uninstalling. Exports are created locally from saved content. Chrome controls print destinations; if you choose a network printer, that destination may receive the document. You control any later sharing or transfer to an e-reader.
Sale and sharing
The publisher does not collect, sell, or transfer your book content or extension usage data. Website fetching and destinations you choose for print/export are described above. The extension has no advertising or tracking integrations.
